Thermoforming Trim Dies

Engineered inline and offline trim tooling for repeatable cut quality, practical make-ready, and dependable production. We build around your formed part and cutting station.

PRODUCTION TOOLING

Built for repeatable production.

Accurate trim registration, consistent cut quality, and tooling that is practical to use and maintain. We engineer each die around the material, part geometry, press, and operating requirements.

OUR SIGNATURE DESIGN

SUPREME ORIGINAL · DEVELOPED IN 1985

Retainer style floating dies.

Our retainer style floating steel rule dies guide the self locating cavities within a retaining ring for accurate, repeatable trim positioning. For many applications, it is lighter and easier to handle than a comparable bolt style die, with lower shipping weight for domestic and international customers.

PROVEN IN PRODUCTION

Built for long runs. Practical to ship.

Supreme trim dies have exceeded one million impressions cutting rPET applications. Actual service life depends on the material, make-ready, operation, and maintenance. Our lightweight retainer designs allow us to manufacture and ship quickly and economically.

DIE CONSTRUCTION

The right construction for the application.

FLOATING

01

Bolt style floating dies

Useful where very close cavity spacing, part height, or structural stiffness requirements favor a bolted floating assembly.

CUTTING GEOMETRY

02

Flat and multilevel dies

Single-level or multilevel knife profiles engineered to match the part and trimming arrangement. Either can be incorporated into suitable floating designs.

OFFLINE

03

Fixed and clicker dies

Practical solutions for compatible offline trimming stations and applications that do not require floating cavities.

CUTTING PERFORMANCE

Engineering the cut.

Rule height, bevel, hardness, heat transfer, and supporting tooling are chosen for the specific material and part geometry. These decisions can reduce cutting pressure and, in suitable cases, eliminate secondary trimming operations.

KNIFE HEIGHT

Steel rule available up to 4 inches for high-rule and multilevel applications.

RULE SELECTION

Knife height, point thickness, bevel, and hardness matched to the material and press.

COMPLETE TOOLING

Pressure assist boxes, match plates, stackers, strippers, backers, and cutting surfaces.

MACHINE FIT

Compatible Sencorp, Kiefel, and other inline or offline steel rule trim cutting stations.

COMMON APPLICATIONS

PACKAGING & CONSUMER PRODUCTS

From clamshells to complex formed parts.

Clamshell packaging, blister packaging, display components, bowls, lids, and custom thermoformed products. We build trim tooling for inline and offline operations, including difficult formed geometries.

MEDICAL & CLEANROOM APPLICATIONS

Precision for medical trays.

We manufacture dies for medical blister packaging and work in process (WIP) trays to customer-specified dimensional, quality, and cleanroom handling requirements.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Thermoforming trim tooling questions.

We generally prefer retainer style construction where geometry allows. Bolt style floating tooling can be appropriate for very close cavity spacing, taller parts, or die geometry that needs additional beam stiffness.

Yes. We help resolve difficult cuts, flange variation, excessive cutting pressure, repeated make-ready adjustments, and secondary trimming. Our engineering experience allows us to recommend practical improvements to cutting rule selection, die construction, and related tooling.

We can engineer tooling for virtually any cutting station designed to use steel rule dies, including Sencorp, Kiefel, and other inline or offline equipment. We design around your machine’s mounting arrangement, available tonnage, stroke, and cutting requirements.

We build trim dies for medical blister trays and WIP trays to the customer’s specified dimensions, quality criteria, and cleanroom handling requirements. Share applicable standards and documentation needs with your RFQ.

Send the part drawing or sample, cavity layout if available, material and gauge, press or cutting station information, and any critical trim requirements. DXF, STEP, IGES, and SolidWorks files are useful; drawings should include reference dimensions.
